Demand and supply - it's in everything!

Jane posted our pictures from junior high online, we started the discussion.... that's 1997, when we were still easily happy with 1 good hangout, 1 beautiful skirt.... life as a teen was probably the best, when the world was smaller, we thought we knew it all....

Today, Jane is the mom of 2, Bargitta moved to Canada, Nancy married a billionaire... Silan decided to go against Chinese culture and stay as double income no kids... and I... with 2 offers in hands last week, I took one and decided to extend my stay in Netherlands for a bit longer...

'Why we don't feel happy as easy anymore?' - Jane often comes up with million dollar questions

'Because we read too many fictions than should, watched too many movies than needed, meet too many intelligent people at younger age which isn't necessary a good thing...Because we're getting old' - some personality result shows that I'm 50/50 for male/female brain, that's scaring, and that probably gives me the space to be 'direct and blunt', I can always blame the other half of my brain

'I'm not getting old' - Nancy stays forever 25, well she does look fantastic, some ladies never get any sign of age, I know a lot of them, and Nancy is one

'No you're not, you're always in demand' - we all have some girlfriends who behave like 18, and talk like 12

....

Talking about demand, here comes supply....

Recently I met up with an interesting company who is the king of demand/supply management in the market - Uber...their surge pricing model was out in front of everyone, then we were shocked, the economic professor didn't lie, everything is predictable. I'm a supporter of Uber model, nothing is really exclusive anymore in Internet world, they initiated shared economy, and I believe the world needs it; I'm a supporter of Uber also for their graceful attitude towards competition, especially in China we saw how the local firms can do...Uber is relax to it,let competitors come to play, and let game become even more interesting, it'll be boring if you're the only one in the market... Sounds easy right? Trust me, it isn't, I also met some firms who asked for exclusivity with no base in hands at all... the question itself already took away all the possible elegance...

Through the eyes of the world

images.jpg

Spending entire Saturday reading this book bought in ShangHai airport turned out to be one of the most beautiful things this week….

The writer is a famous media proprietor, journalist, and talk show hostess in China… her writing is ‘down to the earth’ by using the humblest language, to tell the most complicated relationship 'marriage', the most challenging thing for human being ' managing your emotion'…., and the most precious thing 'be kind and trust your surroundings'…

Yes, trust! When we start believing in everybody’s sincerity, life will become a lot more colorful… This comes across even clearer after my visits in China this time...

When I was younger, I tended to believe all the achievement is coming from own efforts… today I realized any small steps of moving forward in my life is based on a platform built and supported by families, friends and people who come to me with good intention… from that regard, I feel I’m blessed and being VERY lucky...looking at the sky outside, it's clean, and sunny!

Everyone gets a story to tell

Finished training today, on the way back...I wasn't sure what attracted me to this part of the neighborhood, a cemetery

There's always a peaceful feeling when you get closed to cemetery, people are sleeping, quietly, I was reading what's written there, one old man stopped in front of me, he looks like 80+, probably there isn't many asian faces he saw here, he started explaining his wife slept here as well, remembers some details of his wife, 'she has a wound on head... her stomach wasn't good, he has a candle with him, and showed it to me, ' I also brought flowers'... For some reason, I wish I could spend some hours to listen to his story, their story...

When I signed CSI contract, I was joking to get retired at 40 years old with ambitions with CSI, and they asked me what you want to do after 40 then... write books, taking pictures, continue to learn painting, listen to stories... that's a luxury problem, that I would love to resolve

2046 - It's seductive yes, as a movie...

6.jpg

8.jpg

Wong Kar Wai is seductive, 2046 was shot in 2004, I only remember the scenes are seductive, the lines/no lines are sexy, the color was well used, the clothes (okay, I love all the clothes chosen there), the film is distant, roles are all detached but connected, and being detached is elegant, in a lot of cases ...

8am CET, Jane called and told me it's Wong Kar Wai films review festival in my city, I found this movie back, on a rainy Sunday, it's probably not a good start of the day

The entire story is just telling ho7.jpgw to forget about a woman, the journey took him a half life time to meet more women, fall in/out of love, hurt/get hurt, looking for the signs on every women to enhance his memories about her rather than forgetting her... love has a lot of symbols, if you want, you can always link 1 to another, you can always create an illusion to fall in love with your own love imagination, if you want, you can always create some pain to feel you're alive, people do it always anyway...

Romance must be dead when they meet my logic - 'why do they not realize they don't really remember that person, they just remember how they felt when they told themselves to remember that person...' 'I'm going to talk to Nancy now...' - She can't buy in my comment, as a literature major, this mommy of a 3 years old still has deadly serious romantic dreams...

Back to the movie, 11 years later, I still feel the production is very arty, classic, beautiful and full of seduction, but at the end, it's a movie, isn't it? ...

It's good to be classic, but not old fashioned ...

It’s a message I got when I approached my end working hour today, from a friend in Zurich…how to be successful to hit on girls in bars …. Well he actually really started by sharing an online article ‘12 ways to make you look smart in work emails’, probably had a bad day at work … most of the tricks are so old fashioned there, I have seen them every day in my work, it’s like expired tin food, boring, to death…

‘So you don’t like the trick used to hit on you?’

‘Well, it’s good to be classic, but being old fashioned is a different story.  When you know exactly what’s going on in the numerical game for example, it’s no longer a fun game, but if you then convert that into Sudoku, that becomes classic, then excitement can be reproduced… if you follow … ‘

… Speechless, I guess my brain is structured in a particular way, and often bring the conversation out of planned route… But I would expect him to come back with something out of box though, some creativity, rather than 'that's an interesting concept...'

While waiting, a new message from Shang Hai: when you are going to book your airline tickets???  --- shouldn’t Shang Hai be sleeping by this hour?

Stand by the most prominent road sign and let the person find you

'Are you seriously flying 15 hours to Canada just to spend 2 days with him? you know him for 1 week only...."- By asking that, I seemed forgot already I did 26 hours return flight for 24 hours stay, and that was just 2012, and this girl sent me to airport and gave me a good hug...

If you can still do some crazy things for emotion, your mind is still young for that piece of life...

'If it works, bring him back to HK, if it doesn't, enjoy the time you will spend there, a good accompany for the local visit, there's no loss in this trip, if you want to' - I seriously meant it, and hope for her

1 month ago in Malaysia, this same girl was having the overnight chat and wishing to meet the right person while I told her just relax, stand by the most prominent road sign and let the person find you, then fell asleep on sofa, and she left me a note saying I'm completely heartless...

Who knows what's happening tomorrow? By knowing the uncertainty, life becomes a bit more exciting after my today's 9-5...

If you want to end the conversation quicker, give compliments...

It's an interesting discussion, I like people who can catch my brain nerve, and give me something new, make me think, even just for some minutes

He said, I figured out the best way to avoid someone is giving compliments, no conversation can last longer than 3 minutes by saying good things only...

She said, people like 'round' personality, but they do not know ball is one of the objects with least possibilities to be attached anywhere, it rolls among the crowd, and land nowhere till hitting a wall...

I can only laugh, we're Y-generation Chinese, and you can say we're spoiled, but you can never deny we're wonderful...

Beware of monotony, that's the mother of all deadly sins...

44705973oj_11_a.jpg

Women with chunky heels is... like going to steakhouse for seafood... I love seafood, as well as shoes, hence I do proper heels and proper flat

Talking about femininity with a French man is always a pleasant thing to do - "One of the things that gets me nervous here is women with their chunky heels and splay feet, a sign of being in monotony for long..." I didn't make it out of blue, one female on the tram nearly stepped on my Ferragamo with her cowboy boots...I was scared, no kidding

"You're so right, that's why I only stay in Paris ..." - see, good thing about a gay friend is you're never wrong in their eyes...blindly supportive, you need that for rainy weekends...

"I'm so much going to take this Gianvito Rossi home from Belgium next week...regardless I'm much more in a boyish mood for 2015, but after this tram 'event', my feet cries for urgent femininity..."

Reason that women's mind is cleaner is they're changed more often...

........

Back to monotony...'Beware of monotony, that's the mother of all deadly sins' - said a century ago...

I didn't lose my heart in Heidelberg...

image.jpg

They say this is the place where Goethe lost his heart - I think Goethe easily lost his heart, any place any time... A man repeatly having affairs by abusing 'love' name ...

They say Mark Twain found it the most beautiful place in the world - I think it's more important how I find it, a cute town with a history, where people living there don't care much about the past anymore. Twain probably didn't know that 100 years back...

They say it's a romantic town - I think romance is from daily life, how much you can be yourself, and how interesting the conversation can be at breakfast, lunch and diner ...any drama is considered as 'attention seeking' and most of the time is boring, I'm a drama queen myself, I know that game ...

Silkroad with Jimmy Choo on?

image.jpg

15 years ago, I wanted to travel from China east coast to Tibet...repeat the silkroad path if I can

10 years ago, after travelling in 34 countries, I wanted to move to central asia, although the reason was stupid if I look back today, but the wish wasn't

5 years ago, I realized success and money were key measurements in every 20s' life, and I chose to go with the main trend, banking, consulting, and all those superfacial things make you self-confident, you might not need it forever, but I stronly believe everybody needs it for a period

This year, I realize when you can buy a lot of things, they don't mean much to your life anymore...

Diner table last night, I mentioned, maybe taking 2 months off, go from east coast to Tibet, passing central China, feel the changes in culture, this country has a lot to offer when it comes to diversity, rich to poor, religions, history... Gee, this was my wish 15 years back, so life is a circle...dream as well, only difference is today I have this dream with Jimmy Choo on ...

Can Aung San Suu Kyi change Myanmar?

I find the Myanmar exhibition has not much more than the budda to see, if a country gets inspired, driven and controlled by a religion, I usually won't bet my money on It...  Can Aung San Suu Kyi rebuild inner security in mind, and turn the country around after nearly 30 years ??? It certainly isn't something gonna be resolved by talking about democracy ....

Best food reminds you the happy past

image.jpg

This is my favorite dish when I'm in stuttgart

The best food usually has not much to do with the price, but has a lot to do with what kind of feeling that brings you, this one to me, my student life in Paris - first time tried vietnamese food...

14 November 2014

It's about the story teller ...

30 minutes before my flight departure:

I'm a big believer of storyline...

If you can tell your story in a good way, you can sell everything to me, ok nearly everything...

A childhood friend on phone just now, 2015 plan ...: what's still missing, still can't make a decision?

You know, it's cliche since I was age 25, no one forgets that I'm not married yet... I'm honored...

"hmmm, missing peace in the universe, missing the 6 billion population in the world all get rich and happy, missing that Beijing sky turns blue, Tibet has no civil issue, Taiwan establishes Chinese government, missing Middle East all united as a big family ...." I can bullshit If I want to....

Back to the question,  what's missing... if I have the answer, I will NOT tell anyone :)

14 July 2007

my package

One of my friends came to my apt and saw my package ' so few things ? ' , ' well , that's already too heavy and too much for me :) ' -- for someone leaving for another country , I'm not too female thou , suits for job , T-shirts and jeans for weekends , my degrees , my financial calculator and my computer , I'm more like leaving for a week :) What can I say , that's a perfect way to satisfy a lazy person like me .

Taiwanese women are kinda crazy for cosmetic products , body shaping products and some very funny way of speaking to please men , the Taiwanese entertainment on while ranging my books -- they have some women jokes , loads of ways to change your body shape , looking younger , better , bigger breasts , eyes , higher nose .... what a HELL !!! As I told one of my friends ' if you wanna have fun with girls when you're 20s , hanging out with taiwanese :) '

Reading the legend of George SOROS , I like him a lot for his nasty influences in 97 Asian Crisis :)  For personality reason , I always prefer buying short and selling short , that's actually very risky for someone like me who understands the basic financial market rules but haven't digged deeper enough yet , anyway , back to SOROS , first time , I finish a 500 pages book without a pause :) Which drew me back to the collapse of Barings Bank , Human power and Human weakness !!!
